["...4 valve DOHC crossflow heads"]

Now that's an interesting thought. The standard OHC head has been with us for 4 decades, long enough to build up some noteworthy experts on building them to maximum potential. But it has taken many years of trial/error to learn that skill. Guys like Vinny Bedini have learned how to trick out the Z head to its maximum potential, but it took time.

Introduce a DOHC and you would start that cycle all over again. New guys would have to learn how to trick-out the new head, and that would take more decades to perfect. We could generate a whole new generation of Z-interest and guarantee another 40-50 years of S-30 ownership!

That could cause the Z car to become the best-selling, most-popular sports car in automotive world history!

Oh, wait......... Cool

That head you are talking about has been available in Japan only, for about $10,000.

Well, the Japanese 4-valve DOHC hemi head is for the 2-liter 432 engine. Does it even match up to a 2.4 block?

The problem with a $10,000 head is that I could pick up a number of different Z's for that price Laughing. I dont know anything about the process but I feel like it wouldnt be too difficult to reproduce the head off a 432(if anyone can get their hands on one) or just design one based off of the KA head (which bolts onto the 510 L20 engine) but I may just be overestimating modern technology and the costs of designing it and underestimating the amount of work needed.

But how cool would it be if someone decided to start making new unibodies for the S30's? Im thinking of how the new delorean motor company makes new stainless steel frames for cars. It would be awesome to be able to purchase each panel or buy a new assembled unibody for a Z.

And as we discuss this topic about the twin cam heads...look what pops up on Ebay.

Read this article written by Jay Leno about one off head production. It is a good quick read that I thought goes well with this Z head.

Rectangular intake/exhaust ports. Wonder how much the manifolds would add to that cost?
And you'd have to have cams, timing chains and tensioners custom made. I'll bet by the time you got air/fuel/coolant flowing thru this thing, you'd have more than $30,000 invested in it.

Yea, I could buy many parts cars for that, and have plenty of heads that will work for me.
